daveMy name is Dave Allen and I have practised the art of Tai Chi for over twenty years. I am a registered and insured instructor for Master John Ding's International Academy of Tai Chi Chuan - see www.jdiatcc.com  I opened up the wivenhoe Tai Chi studio in 2002 after moving to the area from London (a story in itself!); but in three short years it became obvious that I needed more space and through one of those lucky coincidences that seem to occur in life I found the ideal spot just a few miles down the road in Great Bentley. I still train under Master Ding who through regular sessions with his instructors ensures that their students in turn are offered the highest tuition possible in the art.
Tai Chi can be beneficial for many physical ailments (I for one had a very bad knee problem which over the years has improved dramatically). However, it must be emphasised that to maintain a good level of fitness Tai Chi should be practised on a regular basis and not just taken as a 'one off' weekly session. All areas in your life can be improved - you will become more calm and balanced and all of those things that tend to niggle you throughout the day will seem insignificant in the great scheme of things. Breathing, posture and relaxation and general fitness will all improve with just a little practice every day.

There are many different styles of Tai Chi but all embrace the same principles and concepts and there are many different schools and instructors. It would be my advice to look at several classes before deciding which one is for you.
